The Marquette ASDA legislative committee has two main goals: Advocacy and Education. First, our committee advocates and encourages others to advocate for the rights of dental students and the dental profession. The practice of dentistry and the welfare of our patients can be greatly affected by decisions made by our state and local government. Therefore, we advocate because we want to ensure that the voice of dental students and dentists is heard when those decisions are being made We advocate and encourage advocacy through methods such as emails to legislators, "Teach Me How To Lobby" lunch and learns, Lobby days, and supporting ADPAC & WIDPAC. Second, we strive to find interesting and innovative ways to help our peers stay informed on legislative matters that are relevant to dentistry, such as midlevel providers, access to care, student debt etc., through events and programs including Lunch and Learns, Advocacy Academy and Advocacy Minute videos.
