10 Under 10: The Rising Stars in Dentistry

Have you heard of the ADA’s New Dentist Committee? How about their “10 Under 10” award? As many of you know, ADA is the student branch of the ADA (American Dental Association). The ADA considers anyone who graduated withing the past 10 years to be a “new dentist” and there is a specific committee and blog just for the newbies to the post-grad dental world. An awesome and inspiring series they produce focuses on the winners of the previous years “10 Under 10” award. Reading the stories and accomplishments of the award recipients is inspiring and hows how even as a young dentist you can make a difference and incorporate other passions into your career and provide care that exceeds expectations.

The “10 Under 10” award is relatively new! Here’s what the ADA website has to say about dentistry’s “rising stars”:

The ADA announced March 25 the recipients of its second annual 10 Under 10 awards, which recognizes 10 new dentists who demonstrate excellence early on their careers.

Selected by the ADA New Dentist Committee from more than 120 nominations, the winners showcase the devotion and time new dentists have put towards their profession, said Dr. Lindsay Compton, chair of the Subcommittee on New Dentist Engagement, which selected the winners. Nominees and winners had to be active ADA members who graduated between 2009 and 2018.

The winners were chosen for making a difference in science, research and education; practice excellence; philanthropy; leadership; and advocacy.
